I’m always out on a food adventure, but most often on a tight budget. During my visit to my friend’s place at Quezon City, I discovered a treasure along the streets. Frankly, this is not the first time I heard of this place, because it was actually Stacy who discovered it and shared it with me, check out her review here.
Sir Boy’s Food Republique, is a budget friendly eat-all-you-can restaurant that offers Pinoy home cooking. Everyday, their menu changes and all for P99 only (drinks and VAT not included). That is definitely a bang for the buck! The food may not be that great but it will surely leave you satisfied. It’s worth coming back for the second, third and maybe forth considering if you’re near the area. The restaurant is owned by Boy So and Boy Abunda (I did my research) and is open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm, with a 300 seater capacity.
Chinese New Year was still around the corner that day and they had a Chinese special new year buffet for P199, if you avail of the Chinese special you can cross over the regular buffet for free. My friend insisted to pay for our dinner, so thank you so much for the treat dear. It is a pay as you order and they will give you a wrist tag (see photo below)
The food easily runs out but what I noticed about them is that they are fast in replenishing the food, although sometimes they don’t offer the same dish when they dispense. Below are some food photos I was able to take a picture of.
Here’s my first plate that consists of squid balls, fried rice and fish fillet with tausi sauce and potato and carrot soup. It was flavorful enough to satisfy my demanding taste buds (for lack of a better term – hehe). The food I got was from the Chinese buffet.
I didn’t bother getting a second plate (I know, I know), but anyway I was able to go through my second round and did a cross-over, which consists of kangkong with bagoong, kangkong sauteed in garlic and oyster sauce, fish fillet with tartar sauce, one piece of small tikoy and pork siomai. The siomai was good along with the veggies, the fish fillet was just okay, the batter reminds me of a pancake batter which makes me feel umay after.
I ordered a bottomless ice tea (just your regular nestea) and I didn’t have to call a waiter just to get my refill, they are all very attentive and friendly. On the right most side is the dessert area, Stacy asked if I wanted dessert and of course I did not decline. I tried the Angel cake which was just okay (it was rather dry for my taste but the icing was really yummy). A slice for the Angel cake costs P60 only (see photo below).

It was a memorable dinner, hopefully next time my man will be able to try Food Republique soon. What’s best about this place is that, my friend is just a few houses away from Food Republique. This is definitely a great place, you can see all sorts of people dining in. The ambiance is not bad and pretty cold too.

Whoever wrote this glowing review must be on FR’s payroll… We ate there just now and found their buffet, for lack of a better term – A TOTAL RIP-OFF!! Not so many food selection (one each noodle, pork, veggie, chicken and fish item). Food was hastily prepared and almost taste-less. Dessert is a big let-down, it consist only of (not-ripe-yet) melon and an amalgam of sago/gulaman with cream and pinipig. And it really doesnt’ cost 99 pesos per head because they will add tax of which you have to shell out another 23 pesos. Much better if you will just eat at your local Jolibbee if you have to pay that much.
Stay away from this place to spare yourself from bland and hastily prepared food that is not even worth 50 pesos in my opinion. I would rather heat a Jolibbee yumburger over such kind of food anytime.
Dear Sir, as much how your comment is so negative, you are entitled to your own opinion however assuming that the writer is someone is on someone else’s payrol is not fair for I am not. I am just like you who loves to eat. Difference is, I write about my food adventures with no bias whatsoever. I’ve done quite a lot of food reviews and this is not my first.
If you were able to see my friend’s review about the food selection, that was the point, to have one rice, meat, pork, fish and vegetable everyday. I noticed you have very HIGH expectations considering the price of P99, if you have notice, I DID mention about the price is P99 (drinks and VAT not included), it IS self explanatory. You are free to eat where ever you want.
My food review is not a glowing review for I have a few issues with their food as well, but really, P99 pesos for a eat all you can buffet is pretty cheap. I’m a food critique myself sir and the food at Sir Boy’s may not be that “malasa” but decent enough. I suggest sir you read my blog thoroughly before assuming or that I AM BEING PAID for this review.

Despite of the negative feedbacks…we are glad that this kind of restaurant is finally existing. At least, everyone…has a chance to experience, regardless of the standard of living the so called buffet for only P99. If, anyone… who could refer us to a better quality restaurant with the same price, I would be very glad. Meanwhile, I could only thank personally, the owner of this restaurant for his good job. I don’t think he is even making much money for this restaurant. I feel like, he wanted only to give less fortunate people to have the opportunity to enjoy the affordable buffet which usually only middle class could afford. People who are hard earned, like us are very fortunate to get this chance. We can’t wait to visit this restaurant as soon as we come to Manila.

Let’s face it. Filipinos like buffets and eat- all-you-can restaurants. If you say the food is okay, is edible then I guess people, particularly the “masa” will patronize this place. Judging from the crowd in the photo I’d say that I am right in that area. What’s important to most people is “lamang tyan”. For around 100+ pesos and with a variety of dishes to choose from, I’d say this is a good deal for most people. This is a good place for people on a budget. I haven’t eaten in this place but I have read other reviews of the blogger and tried the food in those places and I more or less agree with her. I’m not saying I agree with her on this one as again, I haven’t been to this place. I think Php99 + VAT + lots of food + good service = a hit to the “masa”. And I think that is this restaurant’s target market.

I’m not sure about that, but recently my friend updated me about sir boy’s and apparently they jacked up the prices. too bad 😦

As for your question, YES I’m serious, and why would I waste my time on writing something I’m not serious about in the first place.
As for Boy’s that was January, months passed and there were a lot of things that has changed from the restaurant, which BTW, is no longer in my control. My friend did say that they got pricier and that is bad considering the food they serve is very ordinary.
When I ate there their buffet was only P99 which was a pretty good deal if you want to stretch your budget and leave with a full tummy. But as for taste it wasn’t great but it was okay. Apparently a lot of people find Boy ridiculous at present. I haven’t been to Boy’s recently so I wouldn’t know.

we went there more than a year ago.. okay namang ang price na 99 eat ol you can …masarap kayang kumain dun. though with the price as compared to tramway eh mas maraming pagpipilian sa tramway though mas mahal nga lang..with sir boy’s na pang-masa, the price and the food was just fine.. though i heard na nagmahal na raw sila..now sa nagcocomment na walang kwenta kumain sa sir boy eh opinion nya na un…edible naman ang food…at okay naman ang service…
Your comments are factual – priced right for its variety and in what seems to be the taste of the food that goes with it (bland or otherwise), etc. So you do not need to be so defensive in standing your ground. You could tone down a bit on your literary style. More power
i read a lot of negative comments regarding this restaurant, im just wondering if the management of sir boy could actually read this? or boy abunda read it himself? but anyway its ok i will look it myself so i can see either the rumors are true or maybe the customers are too way haughty to eat there. please lets tone down im sure the management are doing their best to satisfied customer service.

I think this post is an outlet for those who were disappointed with the restaurant. Haha! I’m not sure if any of Sir Boy’s staff were able to read this post. Personally with my first experience I was glad it wasn’t much of a let down. People expect too much I guess.

My over-all experience when I dined at this restaurant was just ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. And sa price range that I availed na 199 with drinks na iced tea, not bad na. Plus may options for dessert pa. Mas ok ng kumain dito compared naman sa fastfood or karinderya na heaven knows kung uso ang good hygiene sa preparations. Sa panahon ngayon na ang 1000 pesos mo ay wala ng kwenta, aba ok na etong 200 sa FR. Ang yabang naman ng nag-comment dyan sa taas na mas maayos pa ang jollibee.
